Animated infographics
The four original, static illustrations (below), commissioned by the head of product management, were hopelessly complex and hard to understand. To simplify the explanation of the company’s product roadmap, I storyboarded a single, animated version.
I eliminated a speculative product to declutter the map. The animation accurately depicted the rollout sequence for each product. By preserving the map itself, I showed how each new product connected to and complemented the others while expanding the functionality of the core platform.
To begin a presentation for a wary, nontechnical audience on what artificial intelligence is and how it was powering new platform features, I storyboarded an amusing metaphor to make the topic more accessible.
I simplified the concept of repurposing content to build new products using a deck of cards. Each card represented a content ”chunk” that could be used in multiple “hands”—that is, products. (The gnomes were an intentionally bad visual pun on “[g]nomenclature,” a key concept in the larger presentation.)
A metaphorical expression of a common end-user pain point: being forced to trade personal information for a higher-quality user experience.
My design team executed all of the animations in PowerPoint rather than a video editor to enable salespeople to include them in decks while keeping the file size down.
