I worked with Andrew for nearly ten years and was so impressed with his abilities that I hired him twice at two different companies. He is a strategic content marketer who writes impactful and clever copy that generates awareness and action. Andrew is tech-savvy, insightful, and a quick study who can write for any marketing discipline and in any voice or style. His journalism background makes it easy for him to interview and ghostwrite for thought leaders, interpret complex data, and produce compelling stories. He brings smart ideas, deep experience, and flexibility to a content role.

Andrew can produce valuable content for any marketing channel, including press releases, contributed articles, websites, sales enablement collateral, demand gen emails, executive presentations, presentation scripts, social posts, and surveys. I would hire him again without pause.

Andrew is not only an incredibly strong writer, he is an absolute joy to work with. In our time working together he supported both the demand and product marketing teams, churning out research reports, guides, bylines, and blogs. He was quick to pick up the nuances of our audience and understood how to draft content that spoke to the challenges they face as well as the value of our product. Andrew’s editorial and copyeditorial work is both speedy and accurate, and he is committed to preserving and enhancing the vision and voice of any author he edits. His wide-ranging interests and ability to assimilate difficult technical information allow him to write clear and engaging B2B and B2C copy across numerous markets.

Importantly, Andrew is also a pleasure to work with. On projects he has supervised, his direction has been both thoughtful and rewarding; on projects I’ve managed, I’ve been impressed by his intelligence and insight. Finally, I have witnessed his interaction with others and can vouch for the respect and appreciation he shows both to supervisors and to the people who report to him.

Andrew and I partnered at Affinity to develop prospect- and client-facing product marketing content. What I appreciated most was his ability to ask questions, distill technical information from the answers, expand his expertise, and create compelling content as a result. He was able to effectively communicate the challenges our audience faced, the benefits of our products, and the problems we could help clients solve.

His curiosity brought in relevant perspectives from customers, product and customer-facing team members, and industry statistics, driving high-performing content marketing and campaigns that resonated with people and led the audience through each stage of our buyers’ journeys. Not only is he a talented writer—Andrew is a wonderful person to work with, bringing laughter to every meeting and making even the most difficult market metric reports fun to execute. Any team would be lucky to have him onboard.

Sales enablement & competitive intel
Jacob Wilcock.jpg

Part of my job as a salesperson is to give prospects the information they need to make their buying decision. Andrew made my job so much easier because he intuitively knew how to create and adapt content to fit the unique demands of each consultative sales engagement.

Before Andrew came to Atypon, I was cobbling together pitches that were not always on-message or produced efficiently. Andrew reimagined those materials, packaging complex technology into persuasive, aspirational, and engaging content that bridged the gap between the sales and marketing teams. As a result, the consistency and effectiveness of my sales pitches and demos improved dramatically, as did the speed with which I was able to close deals.

He also built out battlecards and prospect-facing sell sheets, meshing our messaging with existing competitive intelligence that he updated with information he himself researched, an unexpected—and welcome—ability in someone whose official mandate was content marketing.

—Jacob Wilcock, Director of Sales, Atypon

Journalism
Duncan Osborne 2 copy.jpg

Andrew reported on a wide range of issues, but he always made sure he was both knowledgeable about his interviewees and well-versed in the topics those interviews would cover. He was resolute, fair, and accurate in his field reporting, and his reportage told stories that explained why something had happened rather than merely stating facts about what had occurred. He did not shy away from topics considered controversial in his editorials, juxtaposing his own well-informed opinions with data and opposition research. The resulting journalism was often searing and almost always garnered a spirited response. And he was always able to write engagingly despite tight deadlines.

—Duncan Osborne, Editor, Gay City News, New York

Revenue generation

Andrew worked on my team as a content marketer for five years, supporting a sales and marketing organization that successfully drove website traffic as well as new logo and revenue growth. He produced a wide variety of content, including website copy, blog posts, white papers, press releases, messaging for new product/ feature launches, sales presentation scripts, reports for industry analysts, and ghostwritten thought leadership. He also worked closely with our executive team and designers to develop materials and provide presentation coaching for our user group meetings, which were critical to engaging our clients and other industry stakeholders. Andrew consistently delivered at a high level and met a high quality standard.

Corporate marketing

Andrew engaged my firm to coach Atypon staff and clients in the delivery of presentations at various user conferences, trade shows, and webinars. During the four years I worked with him, I was always impressed by the presentations’ content—content Andrew had messaged, art directed, and for some C-level execs, written outright.

The corporate marketing presentations left prospects in the audience curious about Atypon and eager to learn more. But it was his work with customers that impressed me the most. He carefully crafted case study presentations so that they elevated the customer’s profile in the industry, fostering customer retention among clients and spurring the growth of a formal user community.

Field marketing & advertising
Tori Busenitz.jpg

Field marketing and event planning bring many challenges, and working alongside Andrew turned those challenges into wins—while having lots of fun along the way. Andrew takes the time to understand the messaging and then works his magic to craft copy that pops off the page, booth, signage, digital ad, collateral, website page, giveaway—essentially he finds a way to engage people with words no matter the venue, medium, or placement. He also has a keen eye for design—combined with his writing, it always produced brilliant results.

I had the pleasure of working with Andrew for six years, through countless events, conferences, trade shows, and marketing campaigns. I can attest to the breadth of knowledge he has and the care he pours into his work.

Copyediting &
book fixing

David Sassian.jpg

Andrew was one of my go-to copyeditors during my long stint as senior production editor at Wiley.  I knew he could handle with professionalism and aplomb books on any topic I might send from my varied professional, academic, and trade list. Nothing gets past Andrew, and he approaches a manuscript always with the reader foremost in mind. His language is precise and his suggestions astute. His sensitivity to both an author’s voice and the needs of a wider audience was especially helpful on titles authored by professionals in their field, rather than professional writers. I recommend Andrew highly to anyone seeking a skilled, nimble, and conscientious editing or writing professional.

As Atypon’s marketing design agency for five years, we worked with Andrew on many types of sales and marketing content, including the relaunch of the marketing website. Andrew’s ability to communicate context, intent, and desired outcome was key to our successful collaboration. We especially enjoyed working on complex, animated infographics for him; he has an innate understanding of how to visualize complex data, which made our work go much faster and enabled us to spend our time designing effective, consistently branded materials and animations rather than deciphering confusing specs.

Andrew is one of the best copywriters and content marketers I have had the pleasure of working with. His ability to create compelling content that resonates with audiences is truly impressive, and he always goes above and beyond to ensure that the content he produces is of the highest quality. What’s more, Andrew is an excellent collaborator, and he knows how to work closely with a designer to create content that works perfectly alongside the visuals.

One of the things I appreciate most about Andrew is his sense of humor and upbeat attitude. Working with him is an absolute joy, and he always manages to bring a positive energy to any project he works on. He is a true professional who takes his work seriously, but he never takes himself too seriously, and that is a rare and valuable quality. I highly recommend Andrew to anyone looking for a seasoned copywriter and content marketer who is not only great at what he does but also a pleasure to work with.

Editing

Andrew was recommended to me by a colleague when I began my academic career. I was looking for an editor to help me organize my thinking about my own research and to help me put it in writing. I’ve been a client of his ever since.

He’s able to quickly learn about the subject matter of every project, ensuring that we’re on the same page before making editorial recommendations. And his suggestions inevitably helped me express myself more clearly and author accurate, more engaging, and more widely read research.

Andrew is also easy to work with, responsive, and considerate of deadlines—at times it has been Andrew who has reached out to me to make sure I adhered to due dates. His encouragement was appreciated and kept me on track. Andrew is an excellent collaborator, and he’d be an asset to any team needing a writer, editor, or researcher.

Sales consulting & engineering
Andrew Schwartz.jpg

Even though he's not a coder, Andrew understands what sales and software engineers do and why we are always under pressure to get it done yesterday. He’s whip-smart when it comes to learning new tech and new markets, and how to shape existing messaging and positioning for a specific prospect or client.

He also knows that while sales content is a big part of sales consulting, it’s not what most engineers are best at creating or have time to focus on. When I worked with Andrew, I felt like he could anticipate my needs and do that work for me so I could concentrate on building out demos, selling software, and closing deals.

In addition, the coaching he provided went far beyond his job description, and I was more successful in my own job because of it. We worked together early in my career, and I’ll always be grateful for his willingness to mentor me in my sales and communication skills, teaching me how to host webinars, work successfully with prospects, and become an effective public speaker.

—Andrew Schwartz, Director of Sales Consulting, Atypon

Product management
Christos Nikolakakos.jpg

I had the pleasure of working with Andrew when I joined Atypon as a product manager, where he helped me prepare and deliver my presentations at user conferences. Preparations were difficult, but Andrew made everything look easy.

I trusted him to edit my presentations and presentation scripts, which thanks to him not only engaged our clients but made all the product managers he worked with look smarter and more knowledgeable in their area of expertise. Because Andrew can navigate between product management and product marketing, he was able to help me communicate my product knowledge to customers in ways that were of most interest to them. I was always happy to have him there to guide me.  Andrew is great at what he does and kind enough to share his knowledge with others. I recommend him highly.

—Christos Nikolakakos, Senior Product Manager, Wiley; Product Manager, Atypon

Mentoring
Dyllan Thweatt.jpg

Andrew is the best editor I’ve ever worked with. His support of my content projects helped me refine my writing skills faster than I’ve been able to at any other point in my career. He offers clear, concise feedback, poses questions that prompt thought rather than rewriting, and actively seeks feedback on his own work without ego.

When we worked on projects, Andrew always prioritized my well-being as a person and not just as a co-worker. Building that rapport made it easy to both offer and receive criticism, which was especially important as a department of two. I would strongly recommend Andrew as a writer, editor, supervisor, and peer. Any team would be lucky to have him on board.

—Dyllan Thweatt, Content Marketing Manager, Affinity

Teaching
Elisa Linksy 3.png

Andrew taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in the engineering school’s Technical Communication Program when I was its director. His classes focused on the skills required to communicate technical information successfully to a lay audience; his course in software documentation was instrumental to many of our undergraduates securing internships and ultimately careers in the field. He also taught writing in the introductory engineering course required of all freshmen, where his ability to learn the language that engineers speak underlied his success.

Extremely well liked by both his students and colleagues, Andrew participated in many collaborative projects that grew out of his formal classes. The launch of a wildly successful student magazine was the product of a class in journalism that he devised. He also participated in a mentoring program for high school students and a writing consultancy program for civil engineering students. Always optimistic about the success of our department’s efforts, Andrew was a dream colleague. I highly recommend Andrew as a writer, teacher, collaborator, idea man, and teammate.

—Elisa Linksy, Clinical Professor, Expository Writing Program, New York University

Tutoring
Naomi Nemtzow 2.jpg

I had the honor of working with Andrew at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, where he was a tutor in technical, business, and marketing writing for computer science and engineering students, many of whom were English language learners and most of whom had gone to engineering school in the hope that they would never again have to write.

Andrew held high standards for his students, and he empowered them to do work that they did not believe themselves capable of doing. He developed clear, well-organized course content informed by his own experience writing product descriptions, software documentation, marketing collateral, and sales enablement materials. He also connected with students in a way that motivated them. Students knew that Andrew genuinely cared about their success, and although they often described him as a “hard” teacher who expected a great deal from them, they also really liked him and knew that they were learning.

—Naomi Nemtzow, Coordinator, Writing Center; Director, Tutoring Center; Adjunct Instructor, Humanities & Social Sciences, Tandon School of Engineering, New York University

Product marketing
Jeremy Hertzog 2.jpg

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Andrew many times on various product-centric, lower-funnel content pieces that focused on product value, persona pains, and clearly mapping prospect’s desired business outcomes to product functionality. Andrew is a pleasure to work with and a skilled copywriter and marketer.
